I'm kind of obsessed with the second look. I think it's perfect cocktail attire (which I don't really do so much. I'm more of a grungy office attire type. Do with that what you will.) I think it's kind of the perfect foil to those satin jewel-tone strapless knee length dresses that everyone and their mother wear. No really, your mother is wearing that. me-oow.
